This DIY Air Conditioner would be perfect for a hot, muggy tent.
desertsun02 posted this great little tutorial on Youtube. Here’s what you’ll need to make it:
- 5 gallon pail
- styrofoam liner
- PVC pipe – 1.5″ internal diameter
- 2 1/4 inch hole saw for the bucket
- 2 1/8 inch hole saw for the liner (this will give you a nice tight fit)
- A small 12v fan
- 15W Solar panel (optional)
- Frozen jug of water
The video does an excellent job of showing you how to build this DIY air conditioner. The creator claims to get about 6 hours of cool air from one frozen jug of water, which we think is pretty darn good. Nothing ruins a camping trip like not being able to sleep, so this little contraption will be well worth it when you fall asleep after a long day of hiking.
