Beginner’s Card Game

Slapjack

Age: 4+

Number of players: 2-5

Setup: Start with a full deck of 52 playing cards and choose someone to be the dealer. The cards will be dealt face down to all players until they are all in each player’s hand, or their Gamewright Little Hands Playing Card Holder. It’s fine if some players have more cards than others.

Gameplay: The player on the left of the dealer starts the game by taking the top card on their pile and placing it face up in the middle of the table. Going clockwise each person flips their top card face up and places it on top of the pile in the middle of the table.

The exciting part happens when a jack is placed on the pile and everyone tries to be the first to “slap” the jack. The first player to slap the jack gets the whole pile of cards in the middle of the table. The person to the left of the winner of the slap goes first. If someone runs out of cards they have one chance to slap the next jack. If they are not successful in slapping the next jack they are out of the game. Play continues until all players are out of cards.

How to win: Be the last person standing.
